About Us

Where we came from.

At the heart of QUBS lies a simple yet profound mission: “To connect patients, doctors, and imaging clinics in a way that provides better outcomes and a more reliable system for all parties.” Our journey began much before our establishment in May 2017, rooted in a vision to revolutionise Radiology Information System (RIS) solutions in the healthcare sector.

QUBS was born, pioneering the use of serverless technologies in the RIS and PACS arena

Our story traces back to 2009 when our co-founder, Hashitha Subasinghe, met radiologist Dr. Amarash Dayanandan through university friend Kuhan Arunasallam, another co-founder. Dr. Amarash, recognizing the potential for innovation, suggested the development of a superior RIS, igniting the spark for what would later become QUBS. Hashitha, then a Mechatronics Engineering student, teamed up with cousin and co-founder Asanga Devaguru, and with invaluable guidance from Dr. Amarash, embarked on the development journey under the company Sigmalogic. By 2011, the first RIS was deployed in Dr. Amarash's clinic, marking the initial step towards a bigger aspiration.

The Evolution

Our evolution is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. In 2014, we identified a significant challenge - the high cost of on-site data handling and maintenance. This realization propelled us to redesign our system from the ground up, leading to the cloud-based solution launched in 2015. While this move facilitated better data management, onboarding new clients posed a new set of challenges. Undeterred, we went back to the drawing board, and in 2017, QUBS was born, pioneering the use of serverless technologies in the RIS and PACS arena.

Fast forward to 2024, we are now at QUBS version 5, boasting many integrations and continuously striving to set new benchmarks in the field.

Sometimes, serendipity plays a part in the narrative of innovation. Before QUBS was conceived, our co-founder Hashitha was exploring domain name auctions and stumbled upon a succinct four-letter domain - QUBS.com. Intrigued by its simplicity, he placed a bid of around $4000, half-expecting it not to go through. To his surprise, the bid was successful, and suddenly, he was the proud owner of a catchy, memorable domain name.

As the concept of our innovative RIS and PACS platform began to take shape, the name 'QUBS,' pronounced "Cubes," effortlessly embodied the geometric precision, structural solidity, and the interconnected functionality that our platform aimed to offer to the healthcare community. Hence, the accidental acquisition of the domain name morphed into the identity of our cutting-edge healthcare solution.
